Feel the action at the 2024 FORMULA 1 ROLEX AUSTRALIAN GRAND PRIX

The FORMULA 1 ROLEX AUSTRALIAN GRAND PRIX 2024 promises a thrilling weekend filled with excitement both on and off the track. With the return of two Australian drivers, Daniel Ricciardo and Oscar Piastri, local fans have even more reason to be excited.

On Track Action

Kicking off the race weekend will be the Supercars and the Porsche Carrera Cup on the Thursday where they will alternate throughout the day, working their way from practice to qualifying before finishing the day with their first races of the weekend. On Friday all the Formula categories will take to the track with the main show being the Formula 1®. They will hit the track twice with two practice sessions, giving Aussie fans the chance to see the 2024 cars live for the first time. The Supercars and Porsche’s will have more races on the Friday with the Formula 2® and Formula 3® hitting the track for practice and qualifying. This year will also see the inclusion of the Ford Supervan – an electric Transit-inspired race car with close to 1500kW. If rumours are true, it could be driven by one of the drivers from the Formula 1 grid. Fans will get plenty of opportunities to see it in action throughout the race week.

What we can expect from Ricciardo and Piastri

On Friday, fans will get their first chance to see our Aussie stars on track, with two practices taking place. Following a couple of difficult years at McLaren that led to him losing his seat after the 2022 season, Daniel Ricciardo has returned to the grid. Having last year missed the Aus GP for the first time since 2011, he then re-joined the Red Bull Racing family. Initially signing on as a reserve driver for Red Bull, mid last year Ricciardo replaced Nick De Vries in the second Visa Cash App RB F1 (formerly Alpha Tauri) seat. He showed glimpses of his best despite breaking his wrist in Zandvoort with the highlight being a fourth-place qualification in Mexico, followed by a seventh-place finish. With a full preseason in the bank and plenty of upgrades expected for the RB team, there’s hope that we will once again see Ricciardo near the front.

Oscar Piastri will be aiming to build on an impressive debut year that saw him finish 9th in the drivers’ standings en route to being named the FIA rookie of the year. After finishing on the podium twice last year, with a third-place finish in Japan and a second place in Qatar, Piastri will have his sights set on his maiden victory in 2024. He scored his first career points at last year’s Aus GP with a solid eighth place finish. Could Piastri be the first Australian to stand on the podium in the F1 era? If the McLaren has improved as it did throughout 2023, he will have a big chance.

Family Zone

The family zone at this year’s FORMULA 1 ROLEX AUSTRALIAN GRAND PRIX 2024 will be taken over by the DC Universe after the announcement of a partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products. The re-imagined family zone will be known as Pit Stop Park Powered by DC Super Heroes.

Located on the golf course near turn 9 of the circuit, Pit Stop Park Powered by DC Super Heroes will be home to entertainment for everyone from toddlers to teens to the young at heart. A Gotham City climbing wall, giant BATMAN slide and a Batmobile will be the show-stopping highlights, while craft and play stations, obstacle courses, and roving DC characters will keep the crowd entertained for hours.

Off Track Entertainment

Melbourne’s best food, art and entertainment bring you an electrifying off-track atmosphere at Albert Park. Across all four days, you’ll find everything from official merchandise to tasty food and beverage options and some of the hottest live music.

Fan Zone

The Fan Zone is the ultimate place to immerse yourself in the world of Formula 1. Home to the world-famous Melbourne Walk, this area should be number one on your Albert Park bucket list. The Fan Zone features a range of merchandise outlets, contemporary food and drink options, car displays and some of the biggest brand activations to keep even the most die-hard motorsport fans happy.

Crown Main Stage

Once the dust has settled on the racing, fans will be able to head to the Crown Main Stage to see some of Australia’s best homegrown talent. Fans attending on Friday will be able to see a host of acts. Kicking off the main stage at 4:30pm will be Methyl Ethyl front-man Jake Webb. He will be then followed by Aussie band Northeast Party House before mega star Amy Shark closes out the day.

The Saturday lineup is stacked home-grown talent. 2023 ARIA Hall Of Fame Inductees, Jet will be taking to the stage alongside Vanessa Amorosi and YO! Mafia.

Then to close out a bumper weekend of music and entertainment will be multi-platinum-selling Australian alt-electro pioneers Empire Of The Sun as well as The Presets and Emma Peters.

Legends Lane
